Loci (“the app”) is a macOS app made by Digital Karbs that helps developers translate and update their own App Store listings. This policy explains what happens to your data.
What we collect
Only anonymous usage data. Loci has no accounts and no tracking. We (the developer) never receive your keys, your App Store listings or the names of your apps.
To learn which features are used and where things go wrong, the app sends anonymous usage signals through TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service based in the EU. A signal says that something happened (for example “a translation finished with Apple Translation, 12 fields”) and includes the app version, macOS version and language. It never includes listing text, app names, keys or anything that identifies you. The anonymous identifier used to count distinct installs is hashed on your Mac before sending, so the data can't be linked back to you, and it's never used for advertising or shared with data brokers.
You can turn this off at any time in Settings → Privacy → Share anonymous usage data. Nothing is sent while it's off.
Data stored on your Mac
- API keys: your App Store Connect API key (Issuer ID, Key ID, private key) and any AI provider keys you add are stored only in the macOS Keychain on your Mac.
- Drafts and preferences: unpushed edits, your translation context, favorites and settings are stored locally in the app's sandboxed container.
You can delete your keys at any time in Settings (App Store Connect → Disconnect, or Translation → Remove). Deleting the app removes its local data.
Data sent to third parties, only when you use a feature
Loci connects directly from your Mac to these services, using your own credentials. Nothing passes through any server of ours.
| Service | When | What is sent |
|---|---|---|
| Apple, App Store Connect API | When you load, edit or push your listings | Requests to read and update your apps' metadata, authenticated with your API key |
| Apple, Translation framework | When you translate with Apple Translation (the default) | Runs on your Mac. macOS may download language files from Apple. |
| Apple, iTunes Search | When showing your app icons | The bundle identifiers of your apps, to fetch their public icons |
| Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI or Google (Gemini) | Only if you add your own key and choose that provider | The listing text you translate (e.g. description, keywords) and your optional translation context |
| TelemetryDeck | While “Share anonymous usage data” is on (the default) | Anonymous usage signals: feature names, counts, app and macOS version, language |
Your use of these services is governed by their own privacy policies and terms:
Demo Mode
Demo Mode uses built-in sample data. Nothing is sent to Apple, and demo edits are discarded when you exit.
Buying Loci
Loci is sold only on the Mac App Store. Purchases are handled entirely by Apple; we receive only anonymous, aggregated sales reports and never see your payment details or Apple Account.
